Russian leader set for Oscar party By Bill Higgins HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Call Beverly Hills ''Moscow on the Pacific.'' Gov. Alexander Lebed of the Siberian region of Krasnoyarsk, who currently tops Russian opinion polls as the candidate most likely to succeed Russian President Boris Yeltsin, is scheduled to attend an Oscar night party at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The governor, who once commanded Russia's 14th Army, fought in the Afghan war and helped settle the Chechen conflict, will be at the eighth annual ''Night of 100 Stars'' Oscar-viewing party, a benefit for Martin Scorsese's Film Foundation. Norby Walters, who is producing the event, said the invitation first went to Yeltsin, who passed it on to Lebed. The governor, who will be on the West Coast for a trade conference, will be attending the party with a delegation of roughly 50 Russian filmmakers led by director Andrei Konchalofsky. OfftopicI was ok untill he started with the kid From: Jonathan Lebed Yes, you are right.... Whiz Kid doesn't seem to be paid by companies to promote them. On the other hand...my sources say that TokyoMex was, without him disclosing that fact. And of course...any person who buys blindly into a person's pick, (especially a penny stock...especially when it is from a unexperienced punk kid), they have got to be insane. I had some good luck in Atlantic City the other day...I rather gamble my money where the food is good.
