Paul, They make a ton of money on Servers and Workstations and Commercial PCs with Intel Inside. That is true but- nothing would make Mr. Pfeiffer happier than replacing those systems with Compaq's own Alpha and K7 boxes. Scumbria

Ask your buddy Tony, what are the most expensive parts of servers? He would tell you that the redundant hot-swappable power supplies, hot-swappable RAIDs of SCSI drives, huge memories, fast NICs, overall engineering and maintainability means are the value-added areas where the money are made. Not in the shitty chip that refuses to run in 4-X configuration.
