Gary,

It does make sense that they go the IPO route since they do not yet have true competition. I have seen numerous companies prepare themselves for this arduous task only to sell at the twelfth hour when several hundred million dollars in stock and cash are put down in front of them. It will be interesting to see how the (if any) competition unfolds this year. My feeling is that if any of the other start-ups actually produce a competing product, Juniper may want or try to accelerate their plans. being a long time ASND (via CSCC) holder, I am hoping for such an acquisition (my CSCO holdings are significantly lower). Since I am on the east coast, I do not have inside connections at Juniper. I have read several articles and interviews by Juniper founders and had come away with the impression that there is no love lost between them and Cisco. Do you get the sense that they would ever consider selling back to Cisco (given that lucent would likely match or beat any offer)?
