Sidney (or whoever you may be, you aren't an economist!) You need to consult some data, like the Treasury's debt accounts. The national debt in public hands has been falling steadily for more than a year. The per capita real debt in public hands has been falling for several years. Please don't worry about your social security benefits. It's going to be all right, I promise you. Though far beyond the age of retirement, I still work very hard and pay maximum FICA tax every year and hope to do so until I croak. There are lots of hard working folks like me out here who will put in far more than they take out. If the current morality campaign keeps up, who knows? Even you might become commmitted to working to support yourself instead of lazing in Lucullan orgiastic ease on the huge Social Security benefits you've "earned." Now! Say slowly after me ..
