I haven't found any other reference to this but if you go to
ovonic.com
You will find Tyler Lowery's presentation on the OUM Ovonic Universal Memory. I could not simply find the statement that it could be made pin for pin compatible with current memory but thought that was a feature of the device. Should have you dreaming of sugar plums. Frank

I bought eight Radio Shack NiMH AA cells and one of their cheap chargers that they claim works for both NiCad and NiMH (switch selectable). The first four cells I charged up overheated pretty badly - hot enough so that I could not leave my finger on them for more than about a second or two before the pain got too much. The second four charged up while only getting warm. Go figure. I plan to get a better charger before re-charging these cells.

During the last Christmas shopping season I talked to several salesmen about NiMH versus NiCad. They were ignorant rather than informed, even in stores that carried NIMH batteries.

I read somewhere recently that an integrated chip had been developed for building smart chargers for various types of batteries. Smart, inexpensive chargers that will charge batteries rapidly and safely will certainly expand battery operated equipment sales.
