<<I hate to admit it, but I too have a problem with assigning Heather Has Two Mommies
in school. Not because I have a problem with people who have persons of their own
sex for lovers but because it does smack of indoctrination. Having read it, I do find it
promotional.>>

Promotional of what? Did you find any sex in it? Are you sure we are talking about the same book? For very small children? What did you think the message of the book was, beyond tolerance and understanding and not ridiculing Heather because she came from a different kind of family? What kind of book would you write that teaches tolerance, if you didn't like this one? Is teaching tolerance in itself a kind of indoctrination?

Just got back from the mall. My family is castigating me for going straight to my addiction when we get home. LOL

I'm glad you appreciate my argument that the state has no justification for indoctrinating anyone's children at school. Teaching morality should be in the home, not school. Religious schools have a charter for their particular views and anyone who sends their children there should know what they are getting into. My children go to public school. We will handle the bumps in the road.
