Let me add to your post that, if the issue with Camino is simply getting it to work at the higher speeds (800Mhz), it's okay to slow down the chipsets. It'll still provide far better performance than SDRAM. So there's nothing magic about the 800MHz number, except, as noted earlier, the CPU and memory have to be some multiple of a common clock. So Intel would be limited in the CPU speeds they could introduce.

You point out clearly that there are no alternatives left at this point. Rambus WILL happen, and they can always mitigate the schedule by limiting the speed. Because they need it right now!
