BGR, I would definitely agree that if you see yourself as an average investor, you would be best served by indexing. Myself, I can't see the market as being an efficient mechanism. There are too many 52 week ranges of 8 to 80, with no significant changes in the information available.

You are not reporting the semi-strong or strong forms correctly. Both focus on valuation. That is what precludes the opportunity to profit consistently from public or private information, respectively.

The speed of price adjustment to news is cited only as supporting evidence; it is in no way central to either form.
