Jim, As always, thanks for the conversation.Pulling verses without considering Paul's Gospel as a whole will not help. Jim, I could have used the whole letter and it would not have changed the fact. And remember the post I posted before? Are you OF Paul? The gospel is not Pauls gospel(good news) it is Jesus the Christ and His sacrifice and His sending the Holy Spirit to live in those who are being saved. 1. Did Jesus say He is the bridegroom? 2. Look at how Paul Peter and Jude are in agreement with the completeness of Jesus act to His bride.... PAUL Romans 6:10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. PETER 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, JUDE Jude 1:1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ: 2 Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. 3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. I am in His Kingdom now and when He comes to get His bride, then I will be in eternity with Him. Speaking of bride and bridegroom, I hear that in the old traditional weddings the "bridegroom" started off by building or acquiring a place to have his future bride live. the dwelling, in many instances could have been an addition to his parents house, and as he prepared, it was not finished and he could not "go get" his bride until his father said it was complete and all was ready. When his father would finally give the ok, then the "bridegroom" would go with much merriment through the town and get his bride, who would be waiting(and ready) for him. If this is correct then it would make good sense to the church to be known as the bride, they would have understood. I have a hard time understanding what could make you believe that this wretched world could have any part in the Kingdom. Where do you plan on going when you die if you are in His Kingdom now? John 17: 13 "I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. Uhhh let me see,,, is Jesus own word good enough? dan
