See what you do is you turn the lights in the room down low (better flame contrast) and you have a designated "Spotter" who's got some night vision binoculars trained on the ruler from, again, (and this is very important) a safe distance. The Subject's only real concern is hair singeing . . .but, hey that's why we've got Pubic Administrators, right? Get one of those guys to clip the burned ends off, and you're good as new. None of this really matters though: accurate measurements, witnesses . . .It was all about the spirit of competition, and filial comradery . . .and how you played the game.
