AOL split price

Dear kY, Steve or anyone else:

I bot some AOL shares at abt $150 on 2/10/99 & was intending to hold them long-term. However, with all the recent talk abt market downturn, esp tech stocks, I am thinking of selling off abt half of my AOL shares in the next few days. Any suggestions from anyone as to how high AOL could hit on Mon 2/22/99 or Tue 2/23/99? Thanx & regards.

Kevin,
You comment, If you are a long term holder in Aol everyone should do fine...who cares about the split.

I couldn't agree more. Academic studies do indicate that splits usually occur near tops--unless you're in a bull market, as we have been for the last several years. That's in general. Specifically, AOL's growth rate has obviously powered it upward after every split.

The real question is when a stock is worth what it's going to be worth in the long run, that is, valuation. Splits have nothing to do with that.
Best,
--Steve
