Yes - there are no guarantee's and there are always exceptions, but it's better to put the odd's in your favor. However, it all depends on what you want to do. Some fields demand a Ph.D., others require that you're good with your hands, or that you have an artisitc flair, or require that you work well with people, or that you're are gifted with languages..., it all depends on what you want to do, and what you enjoy doing. IMO no-one can ignore doing the best they can in high school - no matter how tempting the distractions. Life is tough at times. Way too many young folk don't appreciate how many doors are closed to them - very early on - just because they lack better grades. David.
