re: cable modem it is new in my area (jan 1 unless you were on the pilot program) and my friend was the only one on his network last time i discussed it with him. The downside to that is that traffic can only increase from there. I am sure it will slow down but if speed is cut in half it would still be 50 times better than what i have now. As far as outage, that is a problem with my isp as well, i guess it is a fact of life for the time being.
