I've always felt that most gay people are born that way. There is an interesting catch, though: if this is a genetic feature, you would expect it to disappear, since gay people are presumably less adept at passing on their genetic material. At the same time, numerous detailed studies have failed to come up with any evidence to support any environmental factor. Homosexuality also exists in very similar proportions in wildly dissimilar cultures, which brings into question the environmental argument. Sid knows the answer, but he won't tell us. Either he's being selfish or he doesn't want his bubble popped. I have gay people over to dinner all the time; you would never know they were gay, not unless you asked. Not all gay men mince about in pearls, by any means; not all gay women look like wrestlers. All I ask is that they don't start petting in the living room; I expect the same from my heterosexual guests. I wouldn't mind if they held hands, but they don't, being well indoctrinated. I realize the absurdity of the "some of my best friends are gay" comment, but I really do think that if more adults - are you listening, Sidney? - would interact socially with people who are different, a lot of prejudices would fade.
