There is a difference between an illness and a difference- are people who are musically gifted ill? Are people who are mathematically gifted but not able to read well ill? Are people who prefer working with objects rather than with people ill? Illness generally makes one think of the state of being "unwell". One thinks of chronic conditions that impair function or of degenerative diseases that get progressively worse, or of conditions that are transitory- like the cold, which make us miserable but then pass. Gayness is not impairing the function of the men and women who are gay- they can live, and love and be very happy- the only reason they are not as happy as the rest of us is...some of the rest of us making them miserable. Calling them names, beating them up, telling them they are going to hell for being the way they are. I am pretty much a neut myself- I don't want to have sex with anybody- but I feel a great deal of compassion for people not as evolved as myself who have a driving need to couple with some other creature. I don't see what it matters who or what you couple with, as long as the other part of your coupling is willing and of age.

I just returned from my birthday dinner with my wonderful men. As it was my special time, they let me talk about whatever I wanted and I brought up our recent discussion. Ammo, my child who is, if I believed in this stuff, an old soul, said, "Mom, maybe this guy doesn't mean wrong the way you do. Maybe he just finds the whole thing uncomfortable for him. You know, like if it doesn't fit in his life, it must be wrong. But he doesn't mean to get you all offended about it being like---WRONG evil. Just wrong for him. He doesn't meant to be cruel or upset you. Just leave him alone."
So on those gentle words, I will drop the topic.
