NetSpeak Opens Call Agent Technology To Internet
Jump to first matched term
BOCA RATON, FLORIDA, U.S.A., 1999 FEB 25 (NB) -- By Newsbytes Staff, Networking Roundup. With the idea of making it easier for equipment manufacturers and software developers to test their devices with NetSpeak Corp.'s [NASDAQ:NSPK] intelligent call management technology, the company says it is making the information available on the open Internet.

The move is claimed to be the first phase in the company's launch of its new Simple Gateway Control Protocol/Media Gateway Control Protocol (SGCP/ MGCP) call agent testing program.

The program is intended to speed up the development and interoperability of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipment, and will reportedly allow hardware vendors to accelerate the development of devices designed to enable Internet phone calls to be made over cable and wireless networks.

A number of vendors have already agreed to begin interoperability testing with NetSpeak's call agent, including 8x8, Arris Interactive, Cisco Systems, Com21, Mediatrix Telecom, Motorola, Salix Technologies, and Telogy Networks.
