Thanks JC ...

I use System Commander Deluxe for a boot manager. Not a magic wand ... but I had no trouble installing RedHat Linux.

Would Partition Commander help?

Would Partition Magic help?

Best of luck.

If your computer will boot from the CDROM (check your BIOS), then you should be able to insert a Debian CD, jump to the section for partitioning the hard drive, then delete each partition and re-install partitions as desired. The MBR will be overwritten (at your request) with a new one once the install has taken place.

There is also a Free partitioning program called the Ranish Partition Manager. It works from DOS.

I have a question- How do I, outside of using a powerful electo magnet, zap the entire contents of a hard drive and MBR?

Partition Magic works great for me for partitioning. Latest version handles Linux ext2 partitions. As far as the Master Boot Record, I know that fdisk has an undocumented /m or /mbr option, but I'd say MSDOS fdisk is a last resort unless you really intend to clear the whole drive.
