<With all due respect. Please post all future messages to me in public. >OK ... this was my Private Message to you, which you want made public: ============================================================ Cheeky, Though you may not believe it, we're actually pretty much on the same side of the fence:Message 7952108 Where our variance is ... is the degree of severity. I believe it will be worse than you think. But, don't have time nor inclination to argue. I've pretty much stopped trying to "spread the word" and "educate and share" info. I moved to a great town. My focus is not on posting on SI - thought I check in every few days. I don't live in the "boonies", cause I want to be involved with a community. I've met great "down-to-earth" people. Some who think Y2K's a big deal. Some who don't. Most think it will be a fairly big deal. So, as a "neighborhood" some prepare more than others. We'll be OK. Lots of gardeners. Lots of wells. Lots with generators. We can take care of those near us who haven't prepared ... just in case. I would LOVE to be wrong, and Y2K repercussion's not bad. Don't think it will happen though. I expect at least a year of deep disruption. Not so much here in Oregon, but mostly in the cities.I just want to make sure my parents have their prescription drugs, food, water ... and a heat source for several months. They live in northern Ohio. And, I'm very concerned about my them. I make NO money off of my Y2K research. I know you like to publicly make these pronouncements. I'm not invested in any Y2K companies either, though I did recently invest in gold as a "hedge". But, I don't make posts on any stock threads. Cheryl ============================================================I did not include this in my PM to "Cheeky Kid" - but, I definitely do NOT live in the "boonies". I did not run to the the hills . I want to be involved with a "community", where I can make a contribution/impact. The community I chose to move to is VERY ecclectic. Character and values are more important to me than well-formatted resume. But, what a surprise ... My next-door neighbor was a director with one of CA's largest HMO's. Came over with home-baked raisin bread and home-made plum preserves. They have a pool and spa which I've been invited to use - and will! Another neighbor likes to entertain ... has a commercial stove (6 burners) and commercial fridge and a full wine cellar! Everyone is VERY low key, casual and down-to-earth. Everyone is also "prepared". No one dwells on Y2K - they just enjoy life - and include preparation along with homeowners, auto and health insurance. Only difference is that you can't get a "policy" - so, you do what you can to create your own insurance ... and talk with neighbors, so your bases are covered. Next week we plant snow peas - LOL. Lots to learn up here. And, great people to learn from! I've moved on with my life. We all have to make choices. Some choices are more difficult for others. My choices are easier because I have no husband, children and/or other obligations which tied me to Houston. I'm happy where I'm at NOW in life. Though home remodeling is a REAL hassle!!! Y2K was the cataylist. My life was "glamorous" but emotionally/spiritually ... very empty. Everyone has to make their own decisions - at any point in life. I'm comfortable with mine.
