I followed instructions with the addition of shutting down QV. I had no problems, but I had disk space avail. Let Gary or someone who ran into a space problem answer. The final installation is about the same size as first but not sure if a min or two exist that you need more.

SPACE TO INSTALL QP2.1

(A few weeks ago, I posted a note about this and someone did a followup also.)

Basically, QP wants something like 200+ MB free space to install. But it does not check what files will be overwritten in deciding whether there is enough space.

So your alternative way to make space is to delete enough files (remember to defrag, too) to make that space. Naturally, the QP2 data files (which are nearly 200 MB) is the place to start.

Carolyn,

I'm not sure about your space question, so will let someone else address that. It is very important to follow the 2 page instructions that come with QP2. Especially the caution about not losing all your recent updates. There is a special note about in the middle of the page that covers this. After you install this new version, DO NOT install the data that is on this same CD. If you do, you will overwrite all recent updates.

To avoid this happening, click and remove the check mark for "Daily Data Files". My install went surprising smooth (for me). Some folks have trouble with it if they forgot to shut down QPV. That didn't seem to be a problem for me as I forgot about it and all went well anyway. Good luck!
