One factor in all this that keeps running through my head is Eli's record of predicting the future. In October '97 he predicted tough times even though Sandisk had just reported blowout revenues/profits. We were disappointed at the time, but his predictions about Sandisk and the marketplace were dead on, in hindsight.

Right now Eli's view is very positive. While Sony will certainly have some market share forever, the prospects for MMC and CF are bright. We simply don't have to own 100% of the market to make a profit, and we don't have to own the one and only standard.

Personally, I think we will see a news release one day that looks just like the Samsung release, simply stating that the Lexar case has been resolved and Sandisk has come to a "cross-licensing" agreement with Lexar.

I think we're doing just fine and I feel we will improve on many fronts. Thinking long term I still think Sandisk is a screaming buy. One day we'll see a lot of media attention come to this stock and we'll see that rocket shot we've been waiting for. Again, I feel it all has to do with thier patent position. The older patents last for 17 years (based on the issuance date). Due to some new rules, the recently issued patents (in the U.S.) last either 20 years from the U.S. filing date or 17 years after issuance, whichever comes first. We have a long way to go on these fundamental patents. Even the newer disk emulation patents are very strong.

Just my opinion, and the reasons why I'm long on the stock.
