Friday afternoon I heard a deep throated drone overhead and looked up to see a Catalina flying boat cruising at low altitude up the Santa Ana Canyon. A really impressive sight, and those big radial engines were just like music. It was all the more surprising because I had heard that there were no more Catalinas in existence. Must have been one of those Zap! Comix time warps: the Japanese Imperial Fleet may have been planning a sneak attack on Chino, a few miles upriver.
