Sonny, Re: "I just watched all the floods over there and my wife was shocked to see
Heidelberg under water, well, kind of. She used to visit Heidelberg quite often in
her younger days. Castle and all."

The castle must be OK, though, right? As I recall, it's quite a walk up the hill to get to it, and great views down to the Neckar River and the town once you get there.

About Gateway using the AMD K6-III, it did come out that they would still get the bulk of their chips from Intel. A piece from the Gateway declaration to use AMD (in part):

Gateway (GTW) has picked AMD as its
second
supplier of microprocessor chips. Gateway said Intel Corp.
(INTC) will
provide the bulk of its microprocessors.

From my comments on the Intel thread (wise guy as usual):

So Gateway has AMD as a "second source". I guess this is
backup in case Intel loses the recipe and has yield problems.
Right.

Just heard a Celeron 400 MHz computer, with plenty of beef for
memory, HD et al ad on the radio from Fry's ...$799! How many
people will bother with AMD inside for the same price? You want
a BMW for $20K, or would you rather have this Fiat for the same
price?

Tony

Hello Sonny,

We have been having clear skies and freezing cold in North of Italy.
Over Alps and Germany they have been getting a lot os snow. Our winters in the Po Valley and Pre-Allps are usually cold with clear
skies. In fact from Jan. until end of April we get a few snow falls and
no rain. This miracle of sunny Italy! gg

I watched Mr. Greenspan, and he really didn't say much. He wil use
wait and see technique, but he can't raise the rates with the world
in crisis. I like the market action today.

Did you hear about CSCO spliting?? CNBC said something about it while I was half sleep!! gg

During the second world war, the Jugoslavian partisans tied up 15 German divisons and two Cosssack Cavelry Corps until April of 1945.
This is a very diifficult part of the world with a very unruly people.
US went into Bosania for one year deal now it has become and open
ended police action. I think Kosovo will be much worse.

Kind regards,

Yaacov
