Gee; I guess that explains why Ken Starr is more disliked than Clinton???

As for the 2000 election; I think that the backlash will be against Republican's in the House races. As for the Presidential race; Gore is not a strong candidate. Not as totering as Dole in '96, but profoundly weak. I'd prefer Daschle myself; I think he could be tough as nails to beat. George Bush was an excellent President. He'll go down as one of the really great Presidents. I didn't vote for him in '92 because I couldn't stand Qualye and I really did feel that he was out of touch with the middle class and the country was going in the wrong direction. I thought the country was going in the wrong direction in '94 with the Dem's, and I felt it was going in the wrong direction with the Republican's in '96 and '98. The shock of the extremeness of Newt and the freshmen Republican's in the House in '95 with the zeroing out of so much and the allowing of lobbyists in carte blanche ended any chance of liking them. Toss in the pandering to the Religious Right and they are dead for me. I'll be voting Dem for a long time. That isn't to say I always backed Dem's. I hated Ferraro and voted against her and wimpy Mondale in '84 and lived to regret my vote for Reagan with all the scandals that came out; the defense contractors, HUD, Iran Contra, Reagan lying; etc. I was concerned about Reagan going to far with his anti-Soviet rhetoric in his first term, but I never would have voted for Carter in '80; I didn't vote. I didn't like Reagan at all in '80; though I was shocked by the Hinckley incident. Ford doesn't get any credit, but he was an excellent President; the last really good one till Bush in '88. Clinton has been excellent since '95 IMO. He grew into the Presidency. I hated the liberal crap in his first term. I don't go for Hillary either. I do though like the attention Clinton has given to the African American community. He's done a great job in helping heal much damage done by Reagan and Bush in that area. I'm happy enough with the Supreme Court's shift to a more conservative body; though I'm appalled by some cases here and there. The civil trial ruling re: the President was a disaster. Congress needs to fix that. It's bad for the future; Republican or Dem. I thought Nixon was a nightmare, but LBJ was just horrible also; though he did a favor to all in ending aparteid in America with the Civil Rights and Voter's Rights acts. Nixon did great with the Clean Air and Clean Water acts. Even the bad ones had some lasting good. I can't think of anything I'm happy with longterm from Reagan. All I see he gave us was the Religious Right in politics; a nightmare.
