nus - The K6-3 is going to be a "Hot Number"

Looks like the power requirements may be tricky - I wonder why?

Powerleap Update - 02/21 05:30 PM - Michael Andrawes

I spoke with Powerleap regarding the inclusion of an overclocked K6-2 processor in our evaluation unit and they assured us that it was a simple mistake and that they do not sell anything that is overclocked to the public. I've updated the review with that info.

"They also mentioned a couple interesting products they're working on. The first is a K6-3 400 upgrade. While the current adapter should be able to handle a K6-3, they're reworking it just a bit to insure that the voltage regulator can supply sufficient current for the K6-3. The other thing they mentioned is an upgrade for Pentium Pro systems based on a Celeron 433 or 466 PPGA CPU. This is of course intended to compete with the PPro Overdrive. This kit would give higher clock speeds, but less cache.

As always, we'll keep you updated with any other information we hear. For now, it's back to that history research paper. "

bad nus - Re: "Quinlan, deserves a pulitizer nomination. He paints Intel as a modern day corporate dictatorship, Lead by a perinoid Central European, who used restrain of trade, fear tactics, threats money and power to selectivly economicly punish and company which dared to break rank in Intel plot to dominate and control the PC market. Where in World History have we hear this senario before. How could Grove have used the same tactics used by the Natzi's which he himself was pursequited under during his youth, here in our own free country?"

Congratulations.

Your reading comprehension is even WORSE than your spelling.

CBS Market Watch has AMD (read)
Debra McGarry, CBS MarketWatch
Last Update: 1:26 PM ET Feb 21, 1999

U.S. stocks to watch

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) shares may rise Monday on news that
personal computer maker Gateway (GTW) has picked AMD as its second
supplier of microprocessor chips. Gateway said Intel Corp. (INTC) will
provide the bulk of its microprocessors. AMD shares rose 1/2 to 17 5/8, and
Gateway shares added 3 3/4 to close at 72 7/8.

INTC) shares may come under pressure Monday on news that the
Federal Trade Commission alleged that the chip giant abused its power in
the market for microprocessors by withholding key technical information
from its competitors, according to Dow Jones. Intel said it's within its rights
to withhold the information and denied having monopoly power. Intel shares
fell 1/16 to 128 1/16 before the news.

Ford (F) is surging towards becoming the largest U.S. industrial company,
ahead of General Motors. But with the success comes the challenge of
continuing to deliver strong profits in the face of slowdowns overseas and at
home, Barron's reported. Shares fell 1 1/4 to 58 13/16 Friday. See story.

Motorola (MOT) has set plans to spin off one of its semiconductor units,
according to the trade magazine Electronic Buyers' News. The proposed
spinoff is part of Motorola's plans to focus on its "systems-solutions"'
semiconductor lines. Ahead of the report, shares rose 1 to 67 3/8.

Seagull Energy (SGO) announced that it has outsourced most of its
marketing and trading operations to remain flexible in an environment of
very low natural gas and oil prices. Shares fell 1/16 to 4 3/4 ahead of the
news.

A slew of software companies are set to report earnings next week. Look
for reports from Intuit (INTU), Novell (NOVL), BEA Systems (BEAS),
J.D. Edwards (JDEC) and Wind River (WIND). The last two companies
have pre-announced lower-than-projected earnings. See Software Report.

The Justice and Defense departments gave the go-ahead for the proposed
merger between Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) and Avondale
Industries (AVDL) in a deal estimated at $470 million, it was announced
after the market closed Friday. Late Thursday, Newport received an
unsolicited cash buyout offer from General Dynamics (GD) for $38.50 a
share. Newport shares surged 3 1/2 to 31 15/16 Friday on that news.
Newport News says it's still committed to the deal to acquire Avondale.
General Dynamics shares added 5/16 to 60 3/8, while Avondale shares fell
2 15/16 to close at 29 3/4.
