When you access SI through BrowseMaster, the BrowseMaster "server" is that annoying DOS app on your desktop. Requests go from your browser to the DOS app and then out to SI and back. I'm not exactly sure what would cause a 500 error, but my guess would be that the SI servers were slow. You can change which SI server BrowseMaster accesses on the Configuration page.
