penoles.com.mx - full name Grupo Industrias Peñoles, it's a huge conglomerate, they have a big smelter in Peru among many other businesses. Sort of like Inco, Pan-American, and Teck rolled into one. Well, a little poetic license used there, but you know what i mean .... there was a release out from them on Yahoo about two weeks ago, I was helping to translate it for a friend who has a little Peñoles.

The mexicano sharemarket in general is nowhere near the high-speed low-cost efficiency of the US, much farther away even than the Canadian. It's like the bad old days of full-service full-price brokers. Speaking of which - here's a nostalgic post - #reply-7909742

Through pure coincidence I was on Reforma the day in January when the Bolsa changed over completely to electronic trading, and had a conversation with two of the traders who were out in the street for photo opps talking to reporters ... while there have been large advances it still doesn't attract me [yet] to trade mexicano directly. When there are ADRs, as with Telmex, that's the best of both worlds, you can trade them on the net [although i wouldn't pick tmx long just now]. ..... cheers ...... marcos

[edit] - here's that Yahoo release - biz.yahoo.com
