That's your spin. I could spin it the other way, that in light of a converged standard Q would NOW have reason to use GSM patent portfolio and are therefore willing to swap.

It would be easy be argue that it's ERICY capitulating IMO. Both sides should be able to claim victory otherwise there'd be no basis for a deal. Just remember though that you and others were arguing that Q would be left high and dry, out in the cold, dangling by the short hairs, and that if these reports turn out to be true, to the extent that there are winners and losers, Q is the winner. Q held out for convergence and was considered by most to be the underdog.

Time to start buying...:-) DMG

Why must it be a challenge for either QCOM or ERICY to venture forth into the other's area of expertise? It is more logical that they produce such a phone together, leveraging each other's expertise, and make the other manufacturers look foolish. Only Tero would spin such news into something good for Nokia.

Dont believe everything you read. I dont think the Q has any interest in GSM. the are interested in getting 3G. They are trying to avoid a court case that drags things out any further. Erichson wants to leapfrog into 3G. I wouldnt be surprised if there is a joint venture.

Tero- It is likely that both sides will "spin" the deal to make it sound good to all. It will be very surprising if the q doesn't get royalties from ericy.

By the way, chucked all my nokia at 131 and exchanged it for the q. Now that the q has slaughtered ericy in performance (since they were the same price, pre split), it is time to bet on Nokia vs. the q. This one will be interesting. Of course my money is on the good guys, however last time I sold nokia to buy the q, q was at 40 something and nokia was 18 (split adjusted). I hope to do better this time.

Ok, for all you sad sacks that still own ericy, we'll include you too.
