Tough call, JRH. I agree that they are too small to be in the G&K Index (emc being the reigning Prince), but I'm not sure they belong in an Internet basket.

I would venture to say that it is valid because they are providing some of the behind-the-scenes technology that drives the internet (via filers and cache servers). DownSouth, can you provide some information to us on NTAP sales? Are their sales mostly to internet co's (I know that YHOO uses them) or primarily to enterprise? Or is it a toss up? Thanks!!

BWDIK...

2/22/99: The G&K Index rose 3.36% today, and now stands at 113.31. If you want to look at the individual components, I've provided a link to the portfolio in my profile, as wisely suggested by JRH.

The resiliency of our selections is yet another proof of the strength of G&K investing!

Been lurking...great discussion. I own NTAP, and no, I would not class it an Internet company. IMO it's a hardware outfit, business model seems much like CSCO to me.

It's just my opinion, but I wouldn't call NTAP or any of the storage companies Internet companies. The Internet will help fuel their growth, but it's only an indirect relationship that they have with the Internet.
