JM-- re: throwing cash at the problem (the generic Washington solution)

One of the best responses to this was something I saw a few months back. It said that it takes nine months to make a baby and that even with 10 highly motivated, highly paid, highly experienced, and highly compotent women working on the project...it still takes nine months.

I'm happy that we aren't bombing Sebia today, but the slippage of fixed deadline is a Washington reality.

"There is no way or room for any addtional time."

"Well, we think they tried pretty hard, so we're giving them some more time."

This mindset just doesn't work with the y2k deadline and too many of our leaders have yet to realize it. They've never met a deadline that couldn't be negotiated or resolved with gobs o'cash.
