(COMTEX) B: Data General Brings Healthcare Organizations to the Web W
B: Data General Brings Healthcare Organizations to the Web With the Harmonie
Group's WebKit for Healthcare

ATLANTA (Feb. 22) BW HEALTHWIRE -Feb. 22, 1999--

The Harmonie Group's Sophisticated Web Authoring Tool Kit for
Building Web Sites and Intranets Extends Data General's

Family of Enterprise Solutions for Healthcare

Healthcare organizations will now be able to build and maintain Web
sites and intranets more easily and bridge the information gap with its
patients and providers, thanks to an agreement signed by Data General
Corp. and Harmonie Group, Inc. Data General continues to bolster and
expand its solutions for the healthcare industry with the addition of
the Harmonie WebKit(TM) for Health Care.

The Harmonie WebKit for Health Care is a platform-independent WorldWide
Web-based authoring and content management system that enables all
members of a healthcare organization to contribute to web content
development regardless of prior computer experience. The content that
is generated for the Web site or intranet can then be stored on Data
General's AViiON enterprise servers or CLARiiON advanced storage
solutions.

With this new World Wide Web capability, healthcare organizations will
be able to provide consumers with more information to manage their
health, such as general information on the facility, patient/customer
services, listing of physicians, news updates, hosting of events,
research groups, training programs, useful links to other Web sites,
frequently asked questions, and policies and procedures.

Data General and Harmonie Group will debut this collaborative solution
for the first time at the Healthcare Information Management Systems
Society '99 (HIMSS) show taking place February 21 - 25 at the Georgia
World Congress Center.

"The Harmonie WebKit helped us streamline our Internet/Intranet
development. The process has been smooth and quick and we now offer
wider distribution and more in-depth medical information to both the
community and the hospital staff," states Diane Keogh, chief
information officer for Newton Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts.
"One of the most exciting features is the ability to create a search
engine on our Intranet so that hospital employees can quickly access a
specific hospital policy and procedure."

"Healthcare is a local issue and all health systems should put
themselves in a position to broadcast their services to their local
consumers, patients and physicians - our relationship with Harmonie
Group helps us to achieve this goal," said Peter Stone, vice president
of product planning for Data General. "We feel that the largest
untapped asset of any health system is the patient. The more we can
educate the patient, the more we can drive down the costs of healthcare
and influence outcomes."

"Establishing and maintaining a Web site containing all of your health
care enterprise's information is a daunting challenge. The Harmonie
WebKit for Health Care provides an efficient mechanism for acquiring,
organizing, maintaining, and presenting information. Content management
is facilitated by the responsible content providers without requiring
them to know how to create a Web page" states Dr. Jonathan Schaffer,
President and CEO of Harmonie Group. "Our approach incorporates
databases for storing content; a set of web-based forms, accessed
through a browser, for structured content entry; and a mechanism for
generating Web pages on demand from the database according to
pre-defined templates." Benefits of The Harmonie WebKit for Health
Care Offered by Data General

Data General's solutions combined with the Harmonie WebKit's
content-specific form tools distribute the responsibility for content
development and maintenance throughout the enterprise, while providing
a number of editorial safeguards to ensure the quality and
appropriateness of the information. The structured entry of the
information does not require any prior knowledge of HTML coding. The
Harmonie WebKit for Health Care will allow healthcare organizations to:

-- Establish a professional, comprehensive presence for a healthcare
organization on the World Wide Web or an intranet

-- Market a healthcare organization's enterprise to consumers and
referring physicians

-- Publish important information in real time for patients and
providers

-- Improve customer service

-- Reduce operational costs by facilitating the acquisition,
processing and transfer of information

-- Extend the life of legacy applications and systems via the World
Wide Web

The Harmonie WebKit for Health Care provides access to information
sources through the World Wide Web using common browsers. Intranet
and/or Internet access can be provided depending on target audiences or
the security requirements of the content. Different levels of security
and access protection can be provided for specific resources depending
on the nature and sensitivity of the content. The Harmonie WebKit for
Health Care incorporates databases for storing Web content, a web-based
authoring system for structured content entry, and a mechanism for
dynamically generating web pages. The Harmonie WebKit for Health Care
includes modules for the Authoring/Editing System, Clinical Services
Directories, Clinical Provider Locators, Calendar and Event Management,
and Education and Reference. Data General Showcases Enterprise
