To All: Greetings from San Diego.

Not owning a laptop, I awoke this morning in my La Jolla hotel room feeling mighty disconnected. Market opening at the crack of dawn local time, no ticker line on the darn TV channels in my room, my assistant on vacation for a week - meaning no emergency-fix phone calls back to the office, no place in the entire state where its legal to smoke [unless its a cigar - weird], and worst of all no up-to-the-minute online Q news. Man, if anyone doubts there is a market for the PDQ and wirelessKnowledge they need to experience the withdrawals I was going through. What to do, what to do?

Light bulb on! Don't they have places in sophisticated burgs like SD where you can go sit at a PC and get online? Forty minutes later I'm sitting down at a keyboard with a fresh latte and slogging through Q-news and some 100 or so weekend Q! posts on SI. What a great country!!!

The news is all good. Hopefully there will be something important that can be announced at the meeting tomorrow. If not, that's OK too. It will be enough to watch Irwin and his team in action, meet some of the SI crowd for lunch, check out the thin phone, PDQ, and other new gizmos that will be on display, and then fly home to await the inevitable announcement. Gregg's silence is very loud and very comforting. [By the way, I think some of you may be misreading the Private Capital 13G. I only scanned it late last week but do not recall any major increase other than what you would expect from adding new accounts and filling in existing positions. Perhaps you were adding the lines that report how many shares they have dispositive power over and those for which they have voting power. Usually this is all overlap.]

Looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow.

Jim
