I believe that the Excelon marketing arrangements represent a step in the right direction. Firstly, there will be more reliance on partnerships with system integrators. Secondly, developer licenses will not cost an order or magnitude higher than developer licenses for competing products (as is the case with ObjectStore). I would have thought that it was obvious the company could make more money selling through developers instead of selling to developers, but apparantly not (at least until now).
