You got that message from a broker when you tried to short the stock?

I have no idea what that means. Give them a call and ask.

It sounds like your broker is telling you that the issue is not blue skied in CA. In some cases their system may be wrong because when issues do get blue skied, the system needs to be manually updated and obviously sometimes it doesn't.

Wolf,
It sounds like they don't have a secondary trading exemption CA. When you apply to Moodys or S and P you automatically get blue skied in 38 states. Many small companies don't go beyond this but still trade in all 50 states because nobody check it even though they should have. I'm suprised the computer caught this.
