That certainly is a fair question - which I will wait to answer until March 1 - when Intel releases the specs.

However - ASK YOURSEF THIS - How much does a K6-3 AND 1 or 2 MEGABYTES OF L3 CACHE dissipate ?

Remember - without that L3 cache, the K63 can't match an equivalently clocked Pentium II or Pentium III.

So - adding up K63 power + L3 cache power - I'll bet the Pentium III+Cache comes out LESS !

No Kevin. Heat has to get moved out of that package. Take a 30 watt bulb that's on and put your hand near it. Not too close or you'll get a burned hand. That's a lot o' heat in a small place. Does it come with active cooling or do the box makers have to deal with it?
