I suppose people may sometimes have different reasons for holding
a stock that they are losing money on but I think his main point
makes sense, that there are emotional reasons why people often
hold when they should sell and sell when they should hold.
I think that many, maybe even most, of the time that people don't do well with their stocks it is because of emotional factors that
get in the way of perceiving the situation rationally and acting
accordingly. I know it has been this way for me.

As far as the newsletter issue, yeah, the guy writing the article
had a newsletter but I don't remember seeing any mention of a connection with Value Line, just that his newsletter rated Value Line as the best source of whatever information it provides (I don't have the article in front of me now to refer to).
