With all these stories out, I'm not surprised this second-tier Brazil guy has been influenced. Who knows, Greenpeace may have gotten enough money together to pay him to make his statement. I doubt a ban will actually happen, for international trade reasons (not to mention he might really piss off local farmers who will be stuck in a non-competitive situation).

The UK was talking about a ban two weeks ago and that didn't fly, so I doubt this Brazil thing would fly. I've noticed GM news has died down somewhat in the UK press...there are several other "scandals" involving completely different things which are now getting attention...

And I do think the G&M ("Globe") story was particularly bad, it seemed to take the most misleading items from all the stories that came before it.
