I may be off base on this reply, Jeff, but I'm sure others will tell me if I'm wrong. First, we don't know if there is 'such high volume'. Since BIGT IPO'd just Friday, there's no norm here for expected volume. My impression is that, compared to Friday's IPO volume, we're not seeing much trading.

Now the narrow price range rather mystifying. If you look at BIGT's web page, you'll see that they feel they're a REIT. REIT's typically have little price change in a stable interest rate environment.

I too felt there should have been more move on the IPO (20-40%?). Communication towers ARE part of the hot telecommunications field. So why no movement? The 'REIT' label? I guess so. For me, BIGT is now an 'expendable' play. If many others feel this way too, expect no decent price move until we've all sold.

a lot of times a recent ipo is not fully subscribed. the underwriter buys at the ask price, and dumps stock later. the fever of an ipo will support higher prices, but the underwriter does not wish to crash the price. thus underwriter sells only as much as the market will allow without depressing stock prices. once they have unloaded their undesired position, they sigh with great relief.

just a theory.
