"Leading Asia Pacific Internet Service Providers Deploy 3Com Total Control Technology for Advanced Remote Access Solutions"

Monday February 22, 4:16 pm Eastern Time

Sales to Korea PC Telecom, Pacific Internet Total More Than $2.1
Million

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 1999-- 3Com Corporation
(Nasdaq: COMS - news) today announced Korea PC Telecom and Pacific Internet,
two leading Asia Pacific Internet service providers (ISPs), have selected its Total
Control(TM) technology to upgrade their dial-up remote access networks.

Korea PC Telecom purchased an 8,000-port remote access server solution. 3Com's
Total Control multi-service access platform is deployed in Korea PC Telecom's
''01432 Network'' service, launched nationwide last November 1.

Pacific Internet chose the Total Control technology to upgrade its dial-up
remote-access network, enabling Pacific Internet to offer new services such as
virtual private networking (VPN) and Internet telephony.

The two purchases totaled more than $2.1 million.

''As a pioneer behind the V.90 standard and a leader in remote access technologies,
already proven through Korean reference sites including many of the country's largest
ISPs, 3Com® products were the clear choice for us,'' said Do-Sung Kim, Director,
Korea PC Telecom. ''The built-in support for remote access, voice-over-IP traffic
and virtual private networking applications offered by 3Com's Total Control system
was a crucial competitive advantage.''

''The strong growth of our business requires us to have a robust and reliable
communications platform that is both scalable and easy to manage,'' said Nicholas
Lee, Chief Executive Officer, Pacific Internet Pte Ltd. ''We chose 3Com's Total
Control platform because it was stable, features a small form factor and offers a
software-upgradable platform for future performance and functional enhancements.''

''3Com's Total Control technology meets the requirements of service providers for a
multi-service access solution that is reliable, robust, scalable and easy to manage,''
said Irfan Ali, vice president and general manager, Carrier Systems Business Unit,
3Com Corporation. ''That is why our Total Control platform is the industry's leading
remote access concentrator, with more than 4.6 million ports used by 1,500 ISPs
around the world.''

3Com's Total Control remote access concentrator brings intelligence to the edge of
the network, enabling ISPs to deploy multiple solutions on a single platform. Its
flexible design promotes the efficient delivery of voice, video, and data over dial-up,
analog, ISDN or xDSL connections while supporting wide area technologies such as
frame relay, ATM and VPN. The Total Control platform provides ISPs with a
universally interoperable system that is backward compatible, supporting V.90,
x2(TM) technology and all previous modulation standards.
