Betting on a person or a company because they are doing something fundamentally different and/or useful, and betting on them BEFORE they become well-known - that's the real exciting stuff. And when you do it with your money, you are in the long run well rewarded - because most people want validation from elsewhere before they put their energies and resources behind something "unproven" or new. That's what buying stock in emerging companies is all about - in the long run.
