If you haven't read Gacia Marquez, look up One Hundred Years of Solitude while you're shopping. That is definitely one you can read many times over, which is my definition of a really good book.

Sure, weird, I was talking to a former intelligence agent today about the original SR -- Rosenbluth or what? R. said he picked "Reilly" because the Irish were welcome everywhere but England. The Russian Revolutions showed how wrong Marx and Tolstoi were, and how right Carlyle and the "great man" theory of history could be. I knew one of the greatest figures of the revolution teaching in St. Louis. I also had a friend who researching in the Vatican Library stumbled across a nice old man who turned out to be the titular Emperor of the Eastern (Byzantine) Empire. In the '60's I had a family of Russian princes living in my servant's' quarters. We used to sit and drink sweet tea while they dreamed of returning to their vast estates, surrounded by their myriad souls tugging on their forelocks. It might happen yet!
