Sharper Image Launches Internet
Auction Site At Sharperimage.com

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 1999--Sharper Image Corporation
(Nasdaq/NMS: SHRP - news) today announced the opening of its new Internet Auction Site for
Sharper Image products.

Online shoppers will access the Auction from the home page of the Company's Website,
sharperimage.com.

Richard Thalheimer, founder, chairman, and chief executive officer described the new Auction Site
as ''an important step toward making sharperimage.com a major Internet destination.'' He further
explained that ''unlike most Internet auction sites, that are simply venues for individuals conducting
auctions with each other, our Sharper Image Product Auction Site is between the Company and
individuals -- including, I anticipate, many new customers. Auction bidding is a lot of fun and has
quickly become one of the most popular Internet activities; our new Auction Site adds a whole new
dimension to the sharperimage.com shopping experience.''

Registered online bidders will have opportunities for great bargains on limited quantities of brand
new products, repackaged and refurbished merchandise, close-outs, and unique one-of-a-kind
items. Registration is free.

''The most newsworthy product,'' Thalheimer noted, ''is the extraordinary custom 25th Anniversary
Arlan Ness motorcycle that we first offered in 1997 for $39,000. Plus, many shoppers should be
attracted to the reconditioned massage chairs that we sell new for $2,995; opening bids of $300 for
slightly blemished chairs should result in some exciting bidding and great bargains.''

The Auction Site was developed with OpenSite Technologies of Charlotte, NC, the number-one
provider of Web auction software. ''We specialize in company-to-customer applications,'' said
Michael Brader-Araje, OpenSite Technologies' founder and chief executive officer, ''and The
Sharper Image Product Auction Site is a perfect example of how we can create an entire new
branded e-commerce channel for exclusive merchandise.''

The Sharper Image is a specialty retailer that is nationally and internationally renowned as a leading
source of new, innovative, high-quality products that make life easier and more enjoyable. A
significant and growing proportion of sales are of proprietary products created by the Company's
product development group, Sharper Image Design. The Company operates 87 stores throughout
the United States and mails millions of its award-winning catalogs each month. Additionally, the
Company's products may be purchased on-line via its Internet store at sharperimage.com.
