John, I've done multi 1000% returns scores of times as an options player. And on stocks, I have only had one that has done better than Dell, and that is Medtronic from the mid 1960s. It is my only ever long term buy and hold. The exception that proves the point.

The point on the analysts was that while the co. was touting to high heaven and most analysts were out to lunch with overestimates, two guys, one of whom is often smart and the other of whom is usually a maroon, warned everyone of what was really happening in time for them to take action. And for that they should get sued? <g>

There is nothing unusual in buying a stock that goes up a lot. The holders of Mohawk Data Systems did it. And 100s of other cos that are no longer with us. The trick is to get out before the Ponzi Scheme is discovered. And no, I have never owned Dell (outside of hedges in my income portfolio) stock. They could never pass my smell test. Still can't.

Good Luck,

MB
