NEC Unveils New IP Telephony Initiative Offering Excellent PBX Investment Protection DALLAS, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC America, Inc., Corporate Networks Group (NEC) announces the introduction of a new initiative and IP product line for implementing IP telephony convergence solutions. These dynamic IP products provide both current and future NEAX® customers the ability to adopt VoIP telephony now or at anytime in the future. NEC's IP products allow users the peace of mind in knowing that today's investment can be upgraded without compromising the user experience. This key initiative is designed as part of a broader strategy, Fusion Networks, offering customers networking choices regardless of the chosen transport medium. Through NEC's Fusion Networks Strategy, a business or enterprise may choose the networking environment most advantageous for its business thus gaining a more reliable, less complex and more manageable network infrastructure via a converged voice/data network. NEC offers a full spectrum of Fusion Networking solutions encompassing the LAN and WAN environments, TDM, Frame Relay and ATM. IP Telephony, the most recent initiative within Fusion Networks, focuses on the convergence of corporate networks through Voice-Over-IP. ''NEC's Voice Over IP initiative represents a direct response to the growing demand for network convergence solutions that fully satisfy customer expectations,'' said Eric Wortmann, director product marketing, NEC America, Inc., Corporate Networks Group. ''Customers selecting NEC for the first time do so knowing convergence doesn't have to mean compromise, but promise. ''Users are accustomed to taking advantage of the many features of our NEAX family of PBXs, such as number transparency and portability, call transfer, caller ID and conferencing, to name just a few,'' Wortmann continued. ''Traditionally, NEC has provided transparent networking of these features for branch offices and we are bringing that tradition forward with a broad array of IP telephony products that preserve the end user experience.''
