Well the point, (which you obviously MISSED), is that there are some places in the country - Texas is one - that are notoriously bad with regards to their treatment of certain people. Being a woman I will discuss Texas from a woman's perspective, but I think it is probably worse for some minorities. Ever been to a business meeting in Dallas? Hooters is a popular destination. Also, child beauty pageants (ala Joan Benet Ramsey) are popular in Texas. Texas is a great place if you are a pretty girl with no real career ambitions, not too smart, want to be a mom only, etc. (typical "Heritage Society"). Those types of women would be uncomfortable in Silicon Valley, where you need to make a lot of money to be happy. OK, to each his own, but if you are a politician, is it wise to pick a controversial, bigoted, sexist state like Texas and say that it represents the "median of US voters"??? Median of white christian, bigoted, chauvinist voters, yes but US voters? Methinks not pal, and the fact that it didn't even occur to this guy before he made his asinine statement just shows how out of touch he is.
