You can deep six the old disk buffer. QP2.1 uses a series of smaller disk buffers to hold everything. There are about 100 files in the data area - nothing bigger than about 32MB, most about 3MB in QP2.1. The older version had most of the data in a massive file - size depending (as here) on how many years of data you had. But if you are seeing a buffer in the 100s of MB in one of the data files - that's the obsolete one that can go.
