Monaco - IBM has announced a technology in which they can combine both LOGIC (i.e., computational circuits) and DRAM - Dynamic Random Access Memory.

This is a good development - if done correctly - in that cheaper memory can be combined with logic to form faster systems.

Intel has been doing this since the 80486 but with STATIC Random Access Memory - which is FASTER but consumes much more area - perhaps 5 to 10x the physical size/bit (SRAM/DRAM cell).

IBM's technology announcement WAS NOT a PRODUCT announcement. They are still designing circuits using this new technology.
