TC,
Yes the IP address 127.0.0.1 is a loopback address, it only allows access to the machine you are on. The server that is accessed is the application that's running in the DOS box. You can use the tracert command to verify this, or even ping 127.0.0.1 and see responses come back without any modem lights flashing, assuming you have an external modem connection to the internet.
