Although dust may be one concern when transporting a removable storage device with the disk in place, the other big concern is the drive heads. All modern hard disks "park" their heads in a safe zone, clear of the drive, when powered down. In a removable drive, the heads engage automatically when the disk is inserted in the drive, and "park" themselves when the disk is removed. Thus, it makes sense that you should take the disk out before transporting the drive.

I don't believe that the Clik! drive would be damaged if you pushed on the disk while it was in place. I'm sure that once the disk is fully inserted, it is already in as far as it can go.
