It looks like the million dollars a day that they were claiming in Q4 for their internet sales were actually direct sales to their VARs. They really did not have BTO or CTO in place themselves.

Yes... You are absolutely correct in your analysis:

tHE compaq customer is "the retailer"...and compaq cannot afford to upset them....

retailers..will not want to compete against a direct model manufacturer.....why should they....??

that is why...Dell has no retailers....

Being direct...has that advantage....along with that "closeness" to the end user...since the customer...is the end user....

smile...Mary

by the way....Michael's book is a very fast read.....and enjoyable...
makes one...run out to get another bundle of Dell stock....

>>I own many more Compaq puts than Dell puts.

Great summary, Michael. I fully agree with your assessment of Compaq, and that's a first <g>. Add to that channel stew the issue of assimilating tdm and dec into their spartan corporate culture. A significant amount of talent has already departed from the Cupertino complex - most notably my bride, Aunt Nancy <g>.

Which cpq options would you recommend we look at?
