Well; you just don't know what you are talking about. Liberalism was alive and well in the 60's and it was about having big government programs take care of things like housing for the poor, etc.; centralized big programs used to fix all sorts of things gone wrong in our society. Much of them were disasterous failures, though there were some terrific successes on occassion. It was the wrong way to do things, but federal law and regulation has done much to fix something equally as bad and that was separate state laws that were so disparate that people could get around them by state hopping. Interstate truckers with bad driving records kind of stuff. Liberalism did lead to some important standards applied to everyone. The line between what is best run by the states and what is best run by the federal government is still being fought in politics. I happen to think that some of the Republican positions are good; others are dead wrong. I think there is a good debate had with this. Had the Republican's not been consumed with hatred and drunk with ambition; they could have prevailed more. Some of the state governors have had some good ideas here and there. I'm just interested in what is best for the country and so I'll support a good idea no matter which party. I'm very conservative on many issues. I think the sex and violence on TV should be controlled as well as radio like back in the Hayes commission days. Free enterprise has been a disaster for media. PBS promotes too much gay issues and too much multi-culturalism. There is a substantial bias to the liberal in PBS, yet PBS still in spite of this has far better programming than anything else anywhere. I'm all for the family hours programming restriction that aren't observed though it's getting better. Programs that hold up violence or immorality need to be regulated. Shows like Melrose Place; this is real detrimental to young adults and teens that are the target. We happen to be manipulated either by consumerism or entertainment big money way too much in this culture. Sex is promoted as the big goal in relationships over friendship. People don't today know what being a friend is, neighborliness, community; it's hellish. You just don't know much about my views. I just think it is unAmerican to pursue with the weight of the federal government people that MIGHT have committed a crime and we will just keep looking till we find anything to pin on the person. That just is unAmerican to me. If you think PBS is pro liberal; watch a series they had called The War on Poverty; it wasn't very flattering at all of liberalism.
